About The Editor

I’ve placed this article at the very end of this magazine. The reason for that is because "Success Made Simple" is not about me… it’s about you… or rather the you that you wish to become. However, I recognise that many people are curious about who they are gleaning useful information from… only natural, I suppose. So, here’s a quick note about me and mine. I hope its key message inspires you to change your life… like I changed mine.

You will have read earlier about limiting beliefs. Mine came about as a result of a very strict & dogmatic religious upbringing. Don’t worry… this is not a soap box speech about religion! …but the background is very important, here, in understanding how your mind works. Nor am I in any way blaming my parents, schools or religious culture. They are what they are and, without exception, all of them meant well.

However, the fact remains that the particular dogma that was instilled into me resulted in deep feelings of unworthiness. This led to low self-esteem and a debilitating fear of being judged.

An example of how I was affected is that I was completely unable to revise for any exams throughout my schooling, degree studies or later professional accounting courses. Why was this? I’ll explain later.

As for the inability to revise for exams... I simply blamed myself, of course… continually rubbishing myself for being "a lazy, good-for-nothing, so-and-so" (can you hear the habitual negative self-talk?). But I just couldn’t do it. You can imagine how much stress & anxiety this caused me whenever the dreaded exams approached! I tore myself apart, internally.

This same phenomenon hampered my personal progress towards any success… and I didn’t know why. Worse still, I began consciously believing that I was never going to achieve my dreams. The result was all sorts of behaviour & distractions that my subconscious used to ensure that every worthwhile project I embarked upon was sabotaged… because I was continually affirming my childhood belief framework that I was basically unworthy of success.

It was only after a journey of self-discovery, culminating in the breakthrough moment at the Andy Harrington course, that I finally identified (and resolved) my nemesis… the fear of being judged.

I wasn’t aware of this, but the fear of being judged is very typical in those with a strict, dogmatic upbringing like mine. It results in procrastination on a massive scale. Why? Because if you never complete a project, then you can never be really judged. Similarly, if you never do your very best (like not revising, for example), you can always use the "well, if I’d really tried, I could have been the best…" ...instead of just being the best.

The other big thing that I discovered was that everyone has some hang-up or other from their past that they can use as an excuse for not living the life of their dreams… but that some people still succeed massively despite this "history". The reason is that they use the "so what?" approach to their past. The past is... exactly that. Yes, your present is shaped by your past thoughts & beliefs… but your future is shaped by your thoughts & beliefs right now!

So happiness and success is simply a change of mind. This is the ultimate good news story!

And it works!

My career background is in the public & charitable sectors as a fully qualified accountant. Bizarrely, I would say that my views on life & the importance of living your dream stem from managing a hospice caring for the terminally ill for the best part of a decade. How many times I saw people nearing the end of their days in regret… for the things they would have done if they’d had their time all over again. Very, very sad… and very common. Then there were others… the fortunate few… those who had no regrets because they had lived the life of their dreams and were happy right to their last moment on Earth. Moving… yet wonderfully uplifting…

Inspired by these incredible people, I studied the secrets of success extensively and complemented this knowledge by becoming fully qualified in Hypnotherapy and a Master Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), something I will expand upon in later volumes of this magazine.

As mentioned at the very start of this magazine, my dreams and boyhood ambitions are now being realised one by one by one… like a never-ending river of success. With my old belief system, this would never have been possible… and now my goal in life is to pass this information on to…
